We are dedicated to building an environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive, embrace diversity and foster inclusivity for a brighter tomorrow.
Kia Ora and greetings.
I am deeply grateful to the communities where Education First Trust is delivering its philanthropic services over the years.
Philanthropy is about helping individuals and communities which need assistance for their progress and development. All these require a variety of resources. EFT like any charitable organisation depends on the goodwill and support of the donors to acquire the resources both financial and in kind to undertake the identified projects. I am most grateful to Rotary Club of Auckland Harbourside, donors and other stakeholders for their unwavering support to us over the years to drive forward these worthy causes. I encourage and welcome new donors to join us in delivering much needed assistance which would make significant difference to the lives of some disadvantaged and deprived members in the region. Here I wish to quote Desmond Tutu, globally renowned Archbishop from South Africa and Nobel prize winner who said, “Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”
Dictionary distribution to primary schools has been the flagship project since 2015. It is our plan to expand this project to other Pacific Island Countries. Even in this age of digitalization, there are many communities in the Pacific Island region where the schools and the student community have neither access to reliable and regular electricity, nor internet access.
These areas have schools which are in isolated location, small enrolment, low socioeconomic background, and poor infrastructure facilities. In such circumstances a personal hard copy dictionary is an exceptional reference and learning tool to those students.
These activities in our part are contributing in some way to the United Nations global Sustainable Development Goals.
The one on education aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. In addition to dictionaries the EFT also undertakes a variety of other education related projects in schools in these communities.
As the patron, it is my privilege and responsibility to acknowledge the immense level of voluntary work being put into the activities of the trust; in terms of time, effort, resources and commitment by the trustees and the members of Education First Trust. The group may be small in numbers. However, its outcome and impact in the communities where EFT has provided it’s philanthropic services is immense. They have been carrying out their community engagement and service work with alacrity.
Our mission is to help children to achieve their vision: to make a transition from poverty and low-income communities and become members of mainstream communities.
We invite you to join our mission to help these children achieve their vision.
