Support the 2025 Dictionary Distribution in Fiji
Every child deserves the tools to succeed—but in Fiji’s remote and low-income communities,
even the basics can be out of reach. For thousands of students, a single dictionary can unlock confidence, academic growth, and a lifelong love for learning.
Since 2015, the Dictionary in Schools Project—a proud partnership between Education
First Trust and the Rotary Club of Auckland Harbourside—has distributed over 7,000
dictionaries to students in Years 5–8 across Fiji. These books are more than pages; they are
passports to brighter futures.
Our July 2025 Mission: Giving More
This year, we’re expanding our reach to 1,080 students across 32 schools in Macuata and
Bua, Vanua Levu, Fiji Islands. Dictionaries will be distributed to:
# 251 Year 5 students
# 237 Year 6 students
# 237 Year 7 students
# 253 Year 8 students
# Plus, each school library will receive additional copies to strengthen collective
learning.
With transportation support from the Rotary Club of Labasa and logistics
coordination with the Fiji Ministry of Education, preparations are well underway.
However, your support is vital in helping us go beyond just providing dictionaries. By including additional essentials, we can enrich this distribution effort
and deliver even greater impact to the children we serve. We can provide essential
items, ensuring this journey leaves a lasting, heartfelt impact on every child we
reach.
GOING beyond Dictionaries
This year, our mission goes beyond promoting literacy—we’re also committed to
providing hygiene packs and essential supplies like school bags to support students’
overall wellbeing and educational journey.”
SANITARY PADS
For many girls, the lack of menstrual products means missing school—and missing
opportunities. By including sanitary pads, we will:
> Reduce absenteeism and support academic continuity
> Empower girls to pursue their education with confidence
> Break cultural stigmas and promote lasting change
SCHOOL BAGS
> This initiative reflects our commitment to creating opportunities for young learners
and breaking down barriers to education. By addressing the basic yet critical need for
school.
