Lomawai Ablution Block Project

Lomawai Primary School Sanitation Project

Lomawai Primary School a rural school with a roll of nearly 200 pupils had a pit system ablution block built some 50 years ago. 

The old block deteriorated over the years and recently became a major health risk that lead to local Health Authority issuing a notice of school closure if it was not replaced by new Ablution block by end of March 2014.

Dictionaries in School Project

Dictionaries in schools

The Dictionary in School project was instigated in the 2008-09 Rotary year following an initiative of Past RI President Bill Boyd.

Head teachers and educationists in Fiji have expressed concern that in recent years the standard of both conversational and written English has deteriorated, particularly in rural and low decile schools.

It was decided that providing dictionaries to students would assist in addressing the problem.

Mangere College: School Blazers

School Blazers for Mangere College

The College was in dire need of official school blazers for students coming from poor families and could not to afford to purchase them.The College approached EFT for assistance and this year EFT has sponsored 41 School Blazers as seen in the photo above to the value of $4920.

The blazers will be kept at the college to be used for official occasions. The College is most grateful for the assistance.
